Nah, marilah kita coba dengan kepala dingin.
Ini isu menarik yang dlontarkan Abu tentang bentrokan antar kelompok masyarakat di Bali, yang dilaporkan oleh Bali Post. (Ternyata bukan hanya Bali Post saja, tapi ada juga media lain yang "senada" laporannya.)
Bahwa laporan di media itu bisa salah, itu bukan hal yang baru.
Nah, bagaimanakah aturannya jika ada kesalahan semacam itu?
Pertama, bagi yang namanya dll dikaitkan dalam berita itu, diberikan hak jawab/koreksi terhadap kesalahan itu, untuk disiarkan di media yang memuat berita itu.
Tapi dari membaca laporan yang dilangsir oleh Asana Viebeke Lengkong ini, hal ini belum dilakukan oleh (1) fihak terkait dalam berita tersebut, dalam hal ini Gubernur Bali Pastika, dan juga (2) belum ada penyiaran koreksian berupa hak jawab itu.
Nah, singkatnya, tahapan "hak jawab" ini belum ada di sana.
Pertanyaannya, pertama, apakah media belum menerima menerima tanggapan berupa hak jawab itu dari Gubernur Pastika?
Atau, kedua, apakah hak jawab itu sudah dilakukan, dikirimkan oleh Gubernur Pastika ke Bali Post, tapi kemudian Bali Post tidak mau menyiarkannya?
Menurut pendapat saya, tahapan inilah yang pertama harus dilacak jawabannya.
Jadi urusan etika dan hukum itu bagus-bagus saja untuk ditegakkan, dan memang harus demikian, tapi haruslah dengan tertib dalam prosedurnya, sesuai dengan tahapan-tahapannya.
