Korea forest service and Indonesian Forest Ministry sign a pact
on Friday to keep aside 200.000 hectares of forestland in Kalimantan
to produce wood pellets starting 2010.
The Daejeon based state forestry service said the deals signed of
President Lee sidelines visit to Indonesia gives the South Korean government " a free 99 year lease " on the Kalimantan island to implement the project.
South Korea would provide administrative support and build pellet making facilities and assist everyday operation to be carried out by private company.
The cylinder shape wood pellet is cheaper than liquid natural gas
( LNG ) and also cheaper than kerosene , and produces 12 time less greenhouse gases than diesel fuel.
