Mas Rian will in fact be dancing at the inauguaration--I just confirmed it through an e-mail to him. He is an amazing and vibrant young dancer from ISI SOLO--very talented. When the Southbank group did a wayang in London last year with Ki Purbo Asmoro, they prepared a few compositions for the Gara-Gara section--one by Andy Channing. Rian, who was on a short grant to study opera costumes and make-up techniques in London and happened to attend the wayang just for fun, spontaneously got up and improvised movement to the composition. (Actually I think it was at the request of Kesi in the mike.) It was absolutely electrifying--I remember to this day how absolutely striking and effective his improvisation was. Anyway, I think he's a great choice to represent Indonesia at the inauguaration and many best wishes to him next week.
